In the hustle and bustle of the 1970s -80s Detroit’s inner city neighborhood, young tennis prodigy Maurice Hunter embarked on a journey through the world of tennis with more grit than glamor. The wide-eyed Hunter often arriving at yet another dented roofed motel, or staying at critter infected domiciles, where the most luxurious amenity was perhaps a lukewarm shower and a bed that squeaked symphonies at the slightest touch.

Hunter's shoddy lodgings were the least of his worries. With a knack for uncanny timing and a dash of sheer luck, his winning managed to get him invited to USTA ATP or ITF’s most prestigious Grand Slam tournaments, though required to qualify for many before being accepted in the main draws by not being seeded or ranked inspite of his winnings, he often showed up alongside players who blinked twice at seeing him there.

But Hunter charmed his way into the hearts of spectators and sportswriters with his natural agility and skill, and navigating through the complex players names. Though he faced defeats, to everyone’s bewilderment he began toppling world-ranking players, leaving the audience clapping rhythmically and the elite scratching their heads in disbelief.
